the Silversmith

Relik Jewellery was born out a combined passion of history and silversmithing. I am a lover of storytelling, of the unseen beauty in everyday objects, in the feel of something held hundreds of times before, in the worn, the forgotten, the broken and the cast aside, in the hidden, the found, the buried , the unexplored , in the value that can only be felt in the soul of the wearer. My heart ignites when I can delve into the history of a stumbled upon trinket and learn more about its journey to me. I try to weave tangible history into modern repurposed heirlooms that can continue to be loved and valued for decades to come. I take inspiration from nature , from the stories of sea faring folk I was told as a child, from my stack of torn paged history books gathering dust, from the seanchaí , and from my love of folklore and mysticism.

A keen sense of adventure from a young age later sparked a passion for history and the exploits contained within the pages of our past. Having acquired a Bachelors Degree in History I set out to explore my creativity. Catalysed by a growing love for antiques, old stories, sea shanties, buried treasures and jewellery, I channelled these core marks of myself into the wares now available for you to embellish with your own experiences. I can only been truthful to myself in the pursuit of creating . Each piece of jewellery is a reflection of myself, of my thoughts, my history , my interests and my life. I meticulously handcrafted each piece with truth, sincerity, care and dedication.

Relik

noun./ˈrɛlɪk/ relic

Something that has survived from the past, something kept as a remembrance or treasured for it’s past associations. A keepsake.

My purpose is to create modern treasures reminiscent of artefacts of our past. Something meaningful that will withstand the test of time itself, becoming in its own right…a relik.
