How to care for my jewellery?

Your treasures are lovingly handmade for you and will withstand the wear and tare of everyday life as Sterling Silver is incredibly durable. Some pieces such as the antiques/vintage and stones require more care than others so it is important that you follow the care instructions.

Store them in a safe and secure place to avoid dust, moisture and direct light that can cause tarnishing and damage. The box / pouch that your jewels came in is a perfect home for them.

We have included a polishing cloth to keep your jewellery clean and sparkling. Silver will naturally tarnish and oxidise as the metals react to heat, body oils and other chemicals during wear but a regular polish with a polishing cloth will help restore the shine. Please note that tarnishing is not considered a fault of the product, just a sign it needs a good clean.

If you want to shine your sterling silver pieces even more you can use warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush to lightly clean the piece , then dry and polish with a polishing cloth.

If you have bought any vintage/ antique or antique revival pieces I recommend taking extra care when cleaning these pieces as they are already aged. Getting them cleaned by your local jewellery is always a good idea to keep them looking their best for years to come.

What is my jewellery made of?

We only use solid sterling silver, 925, when creating all our products. We do not use stainless steel or nickel based metals. Solid sterling silver assures us that each creation is of impeccable quality , that will last a life time.

All of our gemstones are locally sourced grade AAA quality gemstones, often lab grown and some natural.

Our antiques/ vintage section will include older pieces of jewellery made from sterling silver or solid 9k gold. Each listing will include the material and stones included in each piece.

How do i find my ring size?

Knowing your ring size can be tricky. The most accurate way to measure your ring size is by a jeweller. Often your local jeweller will be happy to help you size your finger for the perfect fitting ring.

If you have a ring that is the same size as you’re desire ring you can lay it flat and measure in mm the inside diameter to give you your size. Below is a size guide to follow when finding out your size

We recommend to measure your finger size in moderate temperatures as our fingers can swell in the heat and shrink in the cold.

The other way is to wrap a piece of skinny string or a ribbon around your finger & then measure that. For example if you measure 55mm around your finger then you'll need a size O.

If you have a larger knuckle don’t forget that you’ll need the ring to slide over it.Therefore you should measure your knuckle as well as the part of the finger the ring will sit on. Choose a size in between your finger size & knuckle size & that should do the trick.

Ring sizing is not easy. Head to your jewellers to get an accurate sizing and you can’t go wrong. If you’re ring doesn’t fit you can return it no problem and we will give you a refund or make you a similar custom ring in your preferred size. All good.

What finish is on my jewellery?

Sandcasting is the technique used to cast the majority of the jewellery I make. The nature of this craft is to produce individual pieces of jewellery meticulously designed and hand forged , often textured with sand from my local beach. No two castings will be the same. No two earrings in a pair will be the same. They are hand made and intentionally raw in finish. Although appearing unfinished or perceived as a flaw these characteristics are deliberately chosen to add beauty, peculiarity and uniqueness. Every piece is extensively polished and brought to a high shine for the final stage of production.

dO YOU OFFER CUSTOM DESIGNS?

Yes! We do offer custom designs. If you have a vision for a piece of jewellery that you want to bring to life send me an email and we can talk through your ideas. If you like silver, raw, sand casted jewellery you’ve come to the right place! If there is a piece of jewellery on the website that is not in your size we can custom make you something similar to fit. Email contact@relikjewellery@gmail.com with the header ‘custom’

Is my jewelelry Hallmarked?

Although made with sterling silver not every piece will be hallmarked. If you order a custom make, I can hallmark it with a 925 stamp. Most of the antique or vintage pieces will have original UK hallmarking’s, but this will always be stated in the listings.
