Our High Seas necklace is a unique necklace and one where history meets the modern world. This pendant has been hand cast using a 300 year old French button. This button found its way to me and the image was so unique I wanted to immortalising the beautiful design for others to enjoy. The history in which this small button holds is monumental. I couldn’t help but ask questions, who wore this button? What was France like 18th century. How did it come to be in my possession, how many lives has this button seen. Lots of questions, but few answers. I wanted to keep the beauty of this piece of history alive by casting it into sterling silver , to create a piece of jewellery that will last a life time.
By using the sandcasting technique and adding local beach sand it creates a unique textured, one reminiscent of a pendant that has been hidden by the earth for century, waiting to be uncovered. Much like the Old mysterious button.
