Our Weigh Anchor necklace has been cast from an early 20th century brooch that found its way to me. This fouled anchor holds so much historical symbolism with this image first appearing with its wrapping rope in 1601 when the Earl of Nottingham used it as his coat of arms. The fouled anchor has always represented strength and security to sailors and privateers. This brooch was then modelled and sand casted to create this heavily detailed anchor necklace.
Sand casted in sterling silver with an oxidised finish, it sits on a 45cm sterling silver belcher chain.
